“The Minister has now advised me that an assessment has already been carried out along Main Street and it was determined that at this stage that the location does not score sufficiently high against other competing sites within Newry Mourne and Down area.

“However, the Roads Minister has stated that whilst the provision of a controlled pedestrian crossing at Main Street is not currently included in the current programme, the proposal remains with Transport NI to be considered when preparing future works programmes.

“I will continue to lobby both Transport NI and the Department for Infrastructure regarding future provision of a controlled pedestrian crossing for pedestrians to access the local shop and post office amenities in Clough.”
