Ballynahinch Air Cadets Shine A Light On 75 Years

2016 marks the 75th anniversary of Air Cadets and, in Northern Ireland, local Cadets have been celebrating the occasion by taking part in a national Torch Relay.

The anniversary torch which is a symbol of enlightenment through training is being passed from one Squadron to another, travelling the length and breadth of the country and giving Air Cadets in every region an opportunity to join in the celebrations.

In Northern Ireland Air Cadets have been showing off the specially-created symbol of the organisation in a range of locations. Wing Commander Mike Miskimmin, Commanding officer of NI Wing Air Training Corps, said: “We are delighted that our Air Cadets have been taking part in the 75th anniversary celebrations and they have thrown themselves into the project with their customary enthusiasm.

“The occasion gives us a great platform to profile the fantastic opportunities for achievement, learning, personal development and sheer fun which await young people who join the Air Cadets and we are looking forward to welcoming more newcomers as we launch our annual end of Summer recruiting drive.”
