Police Arrest Two Over Aggravated Burglaries

Two men have been arrested in connection with a number of recent aggravated burglaries across Northern Ireland.

dn_screenThe pair, aged 37 and 32, were detained following an incident in County Down and subsequent pursuit in County Antrim yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Michael Hawthorne said: “A car, stolen during an aggravated burglary in Newcastle at around 11.20pm, was spotted by police on Saintfield Road outside Belfast at around 11.40pm.

“It was followed and subsequently pursued and intercepted on the Seven Mile Straight in Antrim. The arrested males, who ran from the vehicle, were detained a very short distance away.

“They will be questioned in connection with a number of incidents including two aggravated burglaries in west Belfast and Dungannon over the weekend and the incident in Park Lane in Newcastle last night as well.

“Detectives investigating all of these incidents are keen to hear from witnesses. They can be contacted by calling 101 and asking for Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime.”
