Warrenpoint Port Receives Visit From Hebridean Princess

Newry Mourne and Down District Council was delighted to see the Hebridean Princess docking at Warrenpoint Harbour last Friday (20 May).

Thanks to Cruise Warrenpoint, a collaboration between local councillors, council officials and port officials, there will be three cruise ship visiting the port and the Hebridean Princess is the first.

The Hebridean Princess is a small exclusive, 2,000-ton vessel that began life as the Caledonian MacBrayne car ferry. This vessel now sets the benchmark for luxury, child-free cruising with perfectly formed cabins fitted out to the standard of stately homes. Perhaps this is why Her Majesty the Queen has chartered the Hebridean Princess for family holidays in the past.

Passengers are free to enjoy the all-inclusive luxury while on board and are attended by crew members on a one-to-one basis to ensure that guests receive exceptionally high standards on board and ashore.

Councillor Mickey Ruane, Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council said: “I am delighted to welcome the 5-star Hebridean Princess on its first visit to Warrenpoint. This is exciting news and exciting times for the area and is something that we are working hard to build upon. Hopefully, the occurrence of cruise ships in Warrenpoint Port will be a regular event in the future.”

On 14 June, the MS Bremen will also arrive for the first time to Warrenpoint Port and the Saga Pearl II will dock on the 13 July for its return visit. To mark its second stopover, a celebratory event will take place that evening in Warrenpoint.
