Saintfield Development Association To Hold Litter Pick On 14 May

The Saintfield Development Association, in conjunction with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful and Newry Mourne and Down District Council, are holding a litter pick in the town from 10.00am until noon on Saturday 14 May.

dn_screenEveryone is welcome to take part and a briefing will be held at registration at the start at 9.30am at the Second Saintfield Presbyterian Church hall, where gloves, litter pickers and bags will be given out to participants. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and children over 12 must have their parents’ permission. Refreshments will be served after the event.

Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is an environmental charity that campaigns directly to the public to change negative behaviour. They work to persuade people to not drop litter but put it in the bin, as well as to clean up after dogs and not to damage their community with graffiti and fly posting.

Their mission is to inspire all sectors of society to take responsibility for creating cleaner, greener and more sustainable communities.

The Big Spring Clean, run by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is Northern Ireland’s biggest clean up. It is a volunteering and awareness raising campaign aimed at promoting opportunities for groups, businesses and individuals. The programme supports local community clean ups across all Council areas. It is open to anyone wishing to rid their streets, beaches and forests of litter.
