Local Down District business networking group, Down Business Connect, has just launched its first-ever charity golf day in a bid to raise funds for two charities… xa0the Newcastle-based MYMY (Mind Your Mate and Yourself) and Remap NI.

Taking place at Ardglass Golf Club on Friday 6 May, the Down Business Connect Mixed Singles event will see almost 100 golfers go head-to-head in a bid to win a host of prizes, whilst raising much-needed funds for two incredibly worthwhile charities.

Vice Chairperson of Down Business Connect and local businessman, Kieran McMahon from McMahon People Solutions, explained: “Momentum in Down Business Connect has been growing month on month, and since our Open Morning in early March, there’s been huge interest in the Group which holds bi-weekly business breakfast meetings.

“We’ve created a strong business platform, and felt that the time was right to do something for our community, whilst still maintaining the networking ethos of Down Business Connect.”

Down Business Connect is encouraging businesses in the area to register a four-ball to play in the inaugural Down Business Connect Mixed Singles event. Taking place in early May, the summer event will double as a networking opportunity for local businesses and costs only £30 per individual (which includes the round of golf and a one course meal).

A £900 prize fund includes individual prizes (1st to 5th), team prize, longest drive, nearest the pin and Beat the Pro. Tee times are from 11am – 3pm and you can register a fourball by calling the Professional Shop at Ardglass Golf Club on 028 44 841022.

It is hoped that the event will raise a significant sum for both MYMY – a local charity that helps people raise self-esteem and self-awareness for people experiencing mental health issues, and supports those affected by depression and suicide; and for Remap NI –the Northern Ireland branch of the national charity Remap that helps disabled people to achieve a better quality of life.

To take part in the Down Business Connect Mixed Singles event on Friday 6th May, please call 028 4484 1022 to book your tee time. For further information on the event, please email:
