Councillors Gareth Sharvin and Colin McGrath are concerned at the poor state of the playground in Killough and have called on the Council to make improvements.

Councillor Gareth Sharvin said: “Local residents are deeply disappointed in the Council for allowing the playpark to deteriorate so much. The number of residents I have spoken with in relation to the playpark have all xa0commented on the appearance of the equipment, the gaps in the surface and the lack of bin facilities in the area.

“I have raised the issues with the relevant Council department and have requested that improvement works to the surface area and play equipment is prioritised to be fixed. It is totally unacceptable to expect children to play in the playpark in its current condition. “

Also commenting, SDLP Councillor Colin McGrath added: “Playparks are an integral part of the local community and it is important that they are safe and secure for our children to be able to use.

“It is not acceptable that facilities are not maintained or updated and I will support Gareth in his work to have this playpark looked after and appropriate to the needs of children and young people in Killough.”
