Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke Welcomes Extra Funding For Street Lights

dn_screenSinn Féin Mourne’s area Councillor Willie Clarke has welcomed an extra £1 million in funding to reduce the backlog of broken street lights. The extra funding was announced by the DRD Minister Michelle McIIveen last Wednesday.

Cllr Clarke said:xa0″The issue of broken street lights is one which I have come to know a lot about in the past number of months. It is particularly important to have these street light repairs carried out with the onset of Winter evenings. This will be welcomed by local residents, particularly the most vulnerable.

“It is my understanding that in addition to more funding being made available for street light repairs, potholes will also be targeted as a result of extra funding. This is also something that is very much welcome. Transport NI will have been made aware of numerous potholes in the local area which require immediate attention and I hope these are addressed in due course as a result of this extra funding being made available.”
