SDLP MP for South Down, Margaret Ritchie has urged the Minister for Europe, David Lidington MP, to ensure that approval for the European Maritime Fisheries Fund is obtained as early as possible.
Ms Ritchie, a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, said: “I took the opportunity today to question the Minister for Europe around European Maritime Fisheries Fund and to urge him to work with his DEFRA counterpart to ensure approval is obtained as early as possible.
“This must be on the agenda in ongoing negotiations with the European Commission in order to underpin fishing communities throughout the UK, not least in my own constituency of South Down.”
