The South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust recently hosted one of the events at the Ulster Hospital. Brendan Whittle, Executive Director of Social Work said: โ€œIn the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust area our social work staff work day and daily with people to help improve lives. They work with people of all ages individually, as families and throughout communities. This includes protecting vulnerable people from harm or abuse, supporting people to live independently and acting as advocates. They do this because they know social work works! โ€œMy Executive colleagues and I are keen to hear first-hand from Social Workers about the issues that affect them so that we can ensure the best outcomes for all as we work together to make lives better.โ€ Noelle Barton, Programme Manager for the Social Work Strategy said: โ€œThe โ€œMeet the Directorโ€ events provides a great opportunity for front-line staff to discuss and debate issues affecting Social Work practice and to explore together how โ€˜Improving and Safeguarding Social Wellbeing, a ten year Strategy for Social Work in NIโ€™, can bring about the changes needed to support the delivery of more flexible and responsive social work servicesโ€.
