Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a Post Office in Annsborough near Castlewellan yesterday afternoon, Monday 5 October.
At around 2.10pm, it was reported that an unknown man, carrying a suspected firearm entered the premises and threatened a member of staff before making off with a sum of cash from the till. The male is described as being approximately six feet tall and was wearing grey track bottoms, grey top, hat and gloves.
It is believed he made off in the direction of Ballynahinch in a silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa car that was driven by a second man. A silver Vauxhall Corsa, believed to have been involved, was found on fire a short distance away on McKay’s Road.
Detective Inspector Denise Graham is appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery or the Vauxhall Corsa car in the Annsborough area around the time of the incident to contact Detectives at Downpatrick Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
