Burns Secures Improvements To Part Of Road At Burrenwood Road

dn_screenCastlewellan Sinn Féin councillor Stephen Burns recently wrote to DRD Roads Service in relation to a section of the footpath on Burrenwood Road. This was in response to representations made by local residents who highlighted the deterioration of the surface and requested that councillor Burns should take up the issue on their behalf.

Councillor Burns said:xa0″Following my letter to in August, DRD wrote to advise that their engineers had examined the stretch of footpath and that they deemed the surface was indeed showing signs of disrepair, but they felt that overall it did not fall below their Maintenance Standards as yet.

“DRD did, however, recognise that a 52-metre section in front of the steps was of particular concern and I am pleased to report that they have agreed to commence work on repairing this section as a higher priority”

Cllr Burns added: ”As a result of my intervention, this section of the footpath was placed on the programme for remedial work and this will be carried out as soon as funding becomes available.”
