Shannon Condemns Donutting At Ballygowan

dn_screenStrangford MP Jim Shannon MP has written to the PSNI asking for attention to be paid to the junction at Ballykeigle Road and Burns Cross as this has recently been used at the weekends and specifically on a Sunday night for speed racing and donutting by young road users.

Mr Shannon said: “These races extend out to the New Line in Killyleagh. Whilst I can well remember being a young driver and enjoying being out with friends, the fact is that doing these kinds of things is just not safe.

“Not simply to those driving and in the cars but to other road users at the time and this really does need to stop. You can enjoy a drive out with friends without driving dangerously and the thrill of a few minutes of speed is nothing when compared to the devastation that an accident can cause.

“This message needs to be very clear.”
