Speaking following the robbery of a sum of money from the Newcastle PIPS premises, Mournes Councillor Willie Clarke said:xa0″I think it’s the lowest of the low to steal from this charity, especially one which is in the heart of the local community and provides a great service in regards suicide prevention, on a voluntary basis.
“It is such a shame to hear about stories like this. I know first hand of all the great work that is being delivered locally by Newcastle PIPS.”
Cllr Clarke added:xa0“If somebody wants to sit at home knowing they have stolen money destined to support individuals contemplating suicide and helping families cope with the loss of a loved one from suicide, ‘take a long hard look at yourself’.
“I would appeal to them to face up to what they have carried out and return the cash and other items stolen.”
