Downpatrick xa0neighbourhood officers carried out a planned search operation in the Meadowlands area of Downpatrick last week, working on conjunction with a number of partner agencies.

Police and other agencies conducted a planned search on properties on the Meadowlands estate and neighbouring areas in Downpatrick.[/caption]On Wednesday 21 January, local officers, supported by officers from the PSNI’s Tactical Support Group, fraud investigators from the Organised Fraud Unit and representatives from the Department of Social Development took part in the multi-agency operation.
Constable Phil Quinn, from Downpatrick Neighbourhood Team, explained: “A total of 10 warrants were executed across addresses in Meadowlands and near-by streets.
“A quantity of suspected Class A and Class B drugs were seized as well as related articles and paraphernalia, a mobile phone, cash and other documentation.
“This is only a small part of a long running operation that has involved members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team working closely with partner agencies, including Financial Investigators, Driver and Vehicle Licencing and Northern Ireland Housing Executive, in an effort to address and tackle crime within the greater Downpatrick area.
“We know tackling the scourge of drugs is something the local community want us to focus on and this operation highlights our determination to do so. It continues to be a local policing priority, indeed in the last 12 months, we have seized cannabis with a total estimated street value of £5,000 in this area.”
