POLICE have announced that two bodies understood to be that of an elderly couple were found at a Newcastle caravan park.
Around 3pm on Wednesday 21 February police entered the caravan at Bonny’s Caravan Site on the Tullybrannigan Road and found the couple.

Francie was a retired gardener who had lived just xa0south of Newcastle.
South Down MP Margaret Ritchie said that she was “shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the sudden deaths.”
She added: “I have been in touch with local police who have informed me of the discovery of two bodies in the South Down caravan site.
“I understand that police are treating it as suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at this stage.
“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the families of these two people who are undoubtedly going through a deeply traumatic and difficult time.xa0I have no doubt that this tight knit community will rally round and support them throughout the coming days and weeks.”
“I’m shocked and deeply saddened by this awful discovery.”
Newcastle man Oliver King who was at the scene last night said the man who died was “an honest, quiet, reserved and genuine person and much respected in the local community.”
The Health and Safety Executive NI (HSENI) are also examining the scene of the tragedy and the remains of the couple have been taken away for further examination.
Councillor patrick Clarke (Alliance) said: “I and xa0wish to convey my sincere and profound condolences to the families of both deceased during this very difficult and traumatic time. I am just shocked at this terrible tragedy.”

Police are still at the scene, as part of a multi-agency investigation, at a caravan park on the Tullybrannigan Road, Newcastle, following the discovery of two bodies on the afternoon of Wednesday 21 January.
Detective Inspector Debbie Eakin said: “A post mortem is due to be held but at this early stage of the investigation the deaths are not believed to be suspicious. However, I would appeal to anyone who saw either of the deceased in recent days to contact CID at Downpatrick Police Station on the non emergency number 101.”
