South Down MP Margaret Ritchie along with Rowallane SDLP Councillor Terry Andrews met with Roads Service Officials to highlight residents’ concerns about road safety on the Downpatrick Road / Westlands junction on Crossgar.

xa0Speaking after the site meeting with Roads Service the MP for the area Margaret Ritchie said:xa0“Cllr Andrews and I outlined to Roads Service the urgent need for a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Westlands. There is a clear need to slow down vehicles at this location and provide a safe point for people to cross this road. Roads Service have responded by agreeing to carry out a full assessment at this location with a view to providing a pedestrian crossing.

“We await the outcome of this assessment and would be hopeful of a successful outcome.”
