The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) today launched a new ‘one-stop’ resource for those wishing to access rural statistics and make rural-urban comparisons.
Following an internal review DARD proposed a framework for statistics and analytical services that better meets the needs of stakeholders. An important element in this enhanced provision is the creation of a new section on the DARD website that collate existing statistics from across Executive departments and reformats outputs to show urban/rural and east/west differences.
Information can be obtained on; people and households, income and poverty, economy and labour market, health, education, crime, housing, travel and transport and quality of life
Welcoming the new streamlined web portal, Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill said: “This new web portal pulls together significant data on rural living in an easy one-stop zone. It provides users with access to information showing the differences and similarities between urban and rural, urban east and west, rural east and west across the north of Ireland.”
The new service will help the many individuals and organisations that use rural statistics find reliable, up to date information on a wide variety of topics at a single website.
