Contemporary Creativity Comes To Ards

A new exhibition opening at Ards Arts Centre on 11 December will showcase the work of ‘The Contemporary Applied Arts Collective’, a group of young emerging local artists.

dn_screenThe show documents their practice six months on from their graduation from the new Contemporary Applied Arts Degree at the University of Ulster and promises a diverse look at crafting with a concept in a contemporary light.

Spectators should expect to view a range of different ceramic pieces from the graduate group.

Emily Crawford, Arts Officer with Ards Borough Council is supportive of the display and said:xa0“The Council is delighted to support local graduates, especially in an economic climate that is increasingly competitive. I have seen the group’s work before and am looking forward to what promises to be a unique, modern display of original artefacts.”

The Contemporary Applied Arts Collective are: Kerrie Hanna, Rhiannon Ewing-James, Rachel Leary, Elaine McCully, Sasha McVey, and Lynsay-Erin Mercer.
