Shannon Goes Quackers About Game For Christmas

dn_screenJim Shannon, MP for Strangford, has urged the general public to go wild for game this Christmas season.

Mr Shannon, a keen outdoor sportsman, said: “Not only is game good to eat, but it is also cheap and healthy, so what is there not to like about it? Game compares favourably with other red and white meats – venison is high in protein and iron, partridge and pheasant contain necessary vitamins B6 and selenium that helps reduce chances of cancer.

“You can purchase game in your butcher or supermarket – duck, pheasant, partridge, rabbit, and pigeon – it really is game to eat – recipes can be found on the Countryside Alliance website campaign – [email protected]

“Not only that, but recipes for various meats are always promoted on TV by a number of chefs including local chef Paul Rankin. If you haven’t yet tried game, then please do so now, and you will I believe be looking for game every week when you try it.”
