Police Appeal After Ballynahinch Incidents

Windmill Drive Area Incident

dn_screenDetectives in Down are appealing for information following a fire at a house in the Windmill Drive area of Ballynahinch in the early hours of this morning, Monday 10 November.

Detective Inspector Debbie Eakin explained: “At approximately 12.30am, police received a report of a fire at the property. No-one was in the property at the time, however, fire damage was caused to a bedroom.

“At this stage, we are treating the fire as suspicious. A 27-year-old man has been arrested and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed any suspicious activity, or anyone with any other information to contact us. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have observed a vehicle in suspicious circumstances in the area at the time.

Hillfoot Incident Detectives in Down are also appealing for information following an incident in the Hillfoot Crescent area of Ballynahinch in the early hours of this morning, Monday 10 November, during which a man was injured.

Detective Inspector Debbie Eakin said: “At approximately 6.30am, police received a report that a 22-year-old man had been injured in suspicious circumstances in the area. He was taken to hospital for treatment for two small wounds to his leg. xa0However, the cause of the injuries have yet to be ascertained.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity regarding these two incidents, or anyone with any other information, to contact detectives at Downpatrick police station on 101. Alternatively, information about crime can be passed to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously be telephoning 0800 555 111.”
