People in Ardglass are getting the chance of a lifetime to step out of unemployment and step into a new exciting business venture opportunity.
Down Business Centre is recruiting for an initiative aimed at helping people living within the fishing dependent community of Ardglass start up their own business.

NetForce: The Down Business Centre in Downpatrick has opened up an exciting programme called NetForce, to help people in Ardglass set up their own business.[/caption]
The NetForce programme, which offers participants a free laptop computer, is being targeted at all age groups in the Ardglass area.
The Down Business Centre’s programme manager Joan Tummon will be out and about in Ardglass recruiting for the programme which is designed to help people in the town to look at ways of becoming self-employed by taking a business idea to the next stage.
The commitment in time is approximately five days over the winter and involves several meetings with top quality mentors. All in all, it is a short and effective course that just may put you on the road to a better lifestyle. So whatever your training – or even lack of it – get aboard the programme and find solutions to becoming successful in identifying and running a business start-up.
Joan Tummon said: “With the right help starting a business doesn’t have to be such a daunting prospect. Fishing communities have taken a knock in recent years but this programme will tap into the resourcefulness and enterprise that exists in Ardglass to hopefully create some new business opportunities.”
NetForce will be delivered ‘on the ground’ within Ardglass through mentoring, providing the participants with ‘face to face’ support, and training, which will assist people to overcome any barriers they may face. The NetForce training and mentoring is accredited and covers all aspects of starting up a business.
“Also, the programme is giving a free laptop computer to each participant who completes the course.
“The programme has obtained funding from South East Area European Fisheries Fund (SEA) which in turn is funded by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Axis 4 of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF).
“Places are still available for everyone and the Down Business Centre is appealing to residents in the targeted area to contact them for details. To be eligible for the programme, participants must currently live in Ardglass and be 18+.
The key benefits to participants are that the programme is: * Completely FREE * All eligible participants will receive a FREE laptop to help in the learning process * Will provide a qualification – QCF level 2 in Understanding Business Enterprise (CCEA) * Will give them new skills to enter self-employment/employment
