Action For Hearing Loss Provides Services In Newcastle

Action on Hearing Loss is helping people in the Newcastle area make sure their hearing aids are in tip-top condition.

In partnership with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, we are launching a new monthly Hear to Help Clinic. This is a free drop-in service for people needing support with their hearing aids.

Trained volunteers, who wear hearing aids themselves, will be on hand to give practical help with cleaning and maintaining hearing aids. They can supply new batteries and tubing, give advice on how to wear the hearing aid, and help with many of the day to day problems that hearing aid users face.

Hear to Help Coordinator Becky Triffitt says, “For many people who are given hearing aids, issues like how to change batteries or discomfort of the ear can be real barriers to using them effectively. Our clinics will be a chance to find out how to manage your hearing aids so that you can use them with comfort and confidence.”

Action on Hearing Loss are actively seeking volunteers to join their Hear to Help teams. If you want to make a difference to people in your area and have experience of hearing loss, you could really help.
