Arsonist Attacks Saul Street Flats In Downpatrick

dn_screenCID in Downpatrick are appealing for information following an arson incident in the Saul Street area in the early hours of Wednesday 27 August.

Just before 1.50am, police received a report that a small fire had been set alight in the stairwell of flats. The fire burnt itself out.

Detective Inspector Debbie Eakin appealed for information saying: “If this fire had took hold, the lives of the residents would have been put at serious risk. I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact us in CID at Downpatrick Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
