Fleadh Cheoil An Dúin Launched in Castlewellan

This year’s Fleadh Cheoil An Dúin was launched last week with the marching bands competition in Attical.

Winners of the Marching Pipe band competition – St Joseph’s Longstone. Winners in the Under-18 Marching Accordion band – Holy Cross Attical. Winners in the Over-18 Marching Accordion band – Holy Cross Attica.

Then Dun Eígse / The Lodge Cultural Centre,Castlewellan, was the venue for Saturday’s Ceili and Set dancing competitions which saw a large crowd gather for an afternoon of fantastic entertainment, from competitors as young as seven years old.

We wish all the winners the very best of luck when they represent the county at the Ulster Fleadh in Dromore, Co Tyrone in July.

The Fleadh Competitions will continue on the 21st June in St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan. This is a great opportunity to find out what the Comhaltas is all about and see some of the fantastic young and talented musicians we have in our county!
