Following his election as a Slieve Croob Councillor, Councillor Craig said: xa0″I am delighted to be elected to the new Down District Council, and to have the opportunity to represent the Slieve Croob Ward in the new Super Council of Newry, Mourne and Down. I pledge to work tirelessly for all sections of the Community as I have done already in my last term in Council.
“I would like to acknowledge the hard work carried out by the late Stanley Priestley, who canvassed and worked for constituents in the Dundrum/ Castlewellan area of the ward over several years.
“I greatly missed his wise advice and assistance during this recent election campaign, and many constituents have spoken of the high regard they had for him. He laid a good foundation for this seat, and I am sure that he would have been very proud to see me elected.”
