Visitors to Ards Arts Centre this month can view landscapes with a difference, looking at memories, instead of places.
The three-person exhibition features the work of recent graduates of the University of Ulster, who use their visual artwork to depict memories.xa0
Patricia James uses thin washes of paint to explore the unease which often underpins the well-behaved people captured in a family portrait, while Lyn McGaw adds and subtracts skins of paint to convey how we often misremember.
Printmaker, Joanne Walker, often uses maps as a background for her vertical images which reference our collective history in describing urban decay and regeneration.
“We’re delighted to be staging an exhibition with three new artists, all using a central theme, but presenting very different interpretations of that theme,” said Emily Crawford, Arts Officer with Ards Borough Council. “The work is very attractive and well worth a look!”.
‘Then’ is on show in the Georgian Gallery, Ards Arts Centre, Conway Square until 30 May. Admission is free.
