The Downpatrick Twinning Partnership will be hosting visitors from across Europe next month as part of an EU Themed Town Twinning meeting on social inclusion.
The event will involve participants drawn from across all the partners in the European links with Downpatrick and a programme of culture, education and European social inclusion has been planned.
Commenting on the event, Mr John Noble, President of the Downpatrick Twinning Partnership, said: “I am again delighted to be welcoming visiting European friends to Downpatrick at this important time of the year. This event will mark Europe Day and also the 30th anniversary of the links with partners Bezons (France) and Listowel (Ireland).
“This will be a great opportunity to celebrate Town Twinning and to promote an awareness of the concept of the European Union and the benefits it has to offer each of us as European citizens.
“During the 4-day event all participants will have opportunities to look at the values that the EU has to offer us all and explore how all of us can benefit from greater social inclusion across the European Union.
“The impact of the event will be about creating a greater awareness of the European way of life and sharing experiences of social inclusion.
“Anyone interested in engaging with the town twinning partnership should email John Noble at dtwinningp@aol.co.uk
or telephone 07711561433.
This event will receive continued support from the European Union Citizens Programme and Down District Council.
