New Partnership To Tackle Dog Fouling

A new local partnership has been formed to tackle dog fouling. The Northern Ireland Housing Executive,xa0Nationalxa0Trustxa0and Northern Ireland Environment Agency have all agreed to work with Ards Borough Council to create a joint action plan which will see each organisation commit to tackling dog fouling on their property.xa0dn_screen Welcoming the new partnership, Councillor Robert Adair, Chairman of the Council Services Committee, said:xa0“Irresponsible dog owners continue to ignore the law and their communities suffer the consequences. While the Council takes the lead role in tackling the problem, working together with other organisations which are responsible for public spaces where people often walk their dogs, means we can take the anti-fouling message and enforcement action further. I look forward to the development of an action plan and the practical actions which will follow”. As well as existing enforcement action and education programmes, the Council hopes to introduce new environmental wardens, as well as a range of new advertising, promotional and community projects to target dog fouling.
