Action Cancer are delighted to launch their Slieve Donard Walk taking place on 10Â May 2014 and are looking for volunteers of all ages and fitness levels to join them on the day.

Participants will walk 850 meters from Donard Park, through Donard Wood and over the Glen River before reaching the famous Mourne wall and continuing up to the summit of the mountain, enjoying spectacular views along the way.
The walk will start at 10am on Saturday 10 May 2014 with registration open from 9.15am. There will be free car parking facilities at Donard Car Park, Newcastle.
Event Organiser Leigh Chamberlain said:‘This is a brilliant opportunity to walk up the highest mountain in Northern Ireland while helping out your local cancer charity. We are asking everyone to raise just £65 in sponsorship and help Action Cancer to save lives and support people affected by cancer in Northern Ireland.
“It is a great day out and a chance to see some of our country’s amazing scenery. Walkers will be led by experienced mountain guides ensuring a safe and enjoyable day out for everyone. So why not gather your friends and family and make a day of it.”
It is now predicted that two in five people will be given a diagnosis of cancer at some stage in their lives. Action Cancer provides a range of vital, life-saving services including breast cancer screening (available to women aged 40 – 49 and over 70), Men’s MOT health checks, health promotion, research, counselling and complementary therapies. Services are available regionally through the mobile facilities on the BIG BUS and at Action Cancer House in Belfast.
Action Cancer does not currently receive any government funding and needs to raise at least £3.5 million a year to continue its services. Therefore, your support with this event will be very much appreciated!
