South Down MLA Chris Hazzard and local Rowallane Council Candidate Eddie Hughes have this week raised local housing need in the Crossgar area with Housing Executive officials.

South Down MLA Chris Hazzard said:xa0″For some time now there has been a real need to increase the availability of social housing in the Crossgar area, and indeed plans have been tabled at times which unfortunately haven’t come to fruition for various reasons.

“I have now requested an outline of housing need in the Crossgar and wider east Down area which should help us move forward on this issue.”

Rowallane Council Candidate Eddie Hughes added:xa0“On the doors in recent weeks I have been listening to families’ concerns that loved ones are forced to move away to find suitable housing. If we are to ensure the future sustainability of rural towns such as Crossgar we must ensure that there is always adequate housing to meet the growing need.”
