Senior training is on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 7 pm, venues to be confirmed by text. The Down ACFL Division 3 will commence on Sunday 16th March with a tough opener for the lads away to Holywood to face the Down JFC semi-finalists St Paul’s. It will be an 11.30 am throw in to avoid clash with the Down v Donegal game in Newry. Following on from this game will be Killyleagh (H), St Michael’s (A), Bright (H) and Ballykinler (A), all 2 pm throw ins on consecutive Sundays.
Ladies training is on Thursdays and Sundays. The Ladies got their first pre-season game of the year under their belts with a close game against Down U16s. It was a useful run out as the management got the opportunity to blood new players who have joined the squad. Its good to see Justine Clarke, a JFC winner from 2004, back in the squad which has now the perfect mix of youth and experience. There is a buzz about the squad and the girls have been training hard in the past few weeks despite the abhorrent weather.
There will be a charity football match in Annsborough this Sunday between the U-30’s and the O-30’s with proceeds going to Donard Fundraising Group for Marie Curie & MYMY. We extend an invite to all former and current players to come along to take part. The match will be played under the banner of Recreational Football and so mouthguards will not be compulsory. All participants will need to sign the standard disclaimer form on the day of the match.
