Police Appeal After Newcastle Disturbances

DETECTIVES in Downpatrick are appealing for witnesses to two related exchanges in the Newcastle area on Saturday 11 January. At aroundxa011.40amxa0police received a report of a ‘fight’ involving a number of males close to a chemist shop on Main Street.dn_screen A short time later at aroundxa012.15pmxa0an assault was reported in Mourne View Avenue. It is understood four males approached a house in the area and assaulted the occupant. He sustained only minor injuries. Detectives believe these incidents are linked and they would like to hear from witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation.
