Aughlisnafin GAC Notes For 12 January 2014

Registrations of all juvenile players from U-16 down to U-6 will take place at the Fin Hall this Saturday 18xa0January from 11.00 to 12.00 pm writes Gerard Lenaghan.

The Active Start GAA coaching for ages 4 – 6 will re-commencexa0this Saturday at 10.15 amxa0in the Fin Hall. Younger ones may join in but must have parental supervision for full duration of the session.

dn_screenWith mouthguards now compulsory for all GAA players in all grades and LGFA players from minors and below, it is imperative that proper fitting is achieved for maximum protection. There are boil and bite products on the market but for those that prefer the custom fitted mouthguards a dental practicioner will be in attendance at the Fin Hallxa0next Sunday at 12.30 pm. The process involves a technician taking a mould of your dental composition and within 10 days the mouthguards will be available for collection from the club. They cost £25 and owners can have name inscribed and choice of colours. Please contact Gerard Lenaghan 0785 426 2858 to book approx. time for attending in advance.

There are a few copies of the Down GAA Yearbook, signed by Benny Coulter, remaining priced at £10. First come, first served.

The club have 20 Down GAA Club draw tickets which they must sell. They are £120 each. For every ticket after 20 that are sold the club receive £96 so if you can purchase one it will go along way to help finance the running costs incurred by the club. Sales are steady and we hope to increase sales upwards on last year.

The club are now actively seeking a new manager for our senior ladies team. Expressions of interest in the post should be emailed toxa0secretary.aughlisnafin.down@gaa.iexa0byxa0Friday 24th January.

The club will be providing U-16’s football for girls this coming season. Anyone interested in playing should get in contact with the club.

Gaelic4mothers & Others is a new initative to encourage ladies back into football or even those who have never played football before. Those interested in getting involved should contact Orla Flanagan.

There will be a meeting of the executive committee on Wednesday 22xa0January at 7 pm.

Commiserations to St Mary’s PS Aughlisnafin Boys football team who were defeated in the semi final of the Allianz County Primary Schools Indoor Football Competition losing out to Carryduff. The Fin club were represented by Morgan Croskery & Conall King.

xa0Good luck to Rachel Quinn who has been selected to attend the Down Ladies U16’s training sessions in Annsborough. Rachel has featured in the U14, U15 and U17 Development Squads to date.

xa0Congratulations to Marty Burns and his wife Fiona on the birth of their new son. Best wishes on behalf of everyone in the club.
