Police Appeal After Newcastle Assault

POLICE in Newcastle are appealing for information following an assault in the Bryansford Road area of Newcastle on Sunday 5 January 2014. At approximatelyxa01.30am, a 30-year old man was walking along the Bryansford Road when he saw a male and female arguing near the mini roundabout. He intervened and asked the male to leave the female alone. After a brief exchange of words he left. A short distance away the injured party heard someone running up behind him and he was assaulted by who he believes was the male who had been arguing with previously. He sustained injuries to his leg.xa0dn_screen The police believe he was knocked unconscious and when he came around an unknown taxi driver had come to his assistance. Police would appeal to the taxi driver who assisted the incident to contact Police as he may have information which may help their investigation, and they would also ask anyone who may have witnessed this assault or who has any information to contact them at Newcastle on 0845 600 8000.
