SERC Art Lecturer Mary Doran To Exhibit Work At Down Arts Centre

From Fridayxa010 January 2014 toxa0Saturday 1 February 2014, artist mary will be exhibiting her latest creations at the Down Arts Centre. The exhibition is free to view.

Mary Doran

In 2003 Mary Doran graduated from the University of Ulster with a degree in Fine Art. She has lectured at South Eastern Regional College for the past eight years and has had considerable success exhibiting both nationally and internationally.

Working mainly in the media of bitumen and shellac, Mary begins the artistic process by drawing out the subject with a controlled approach, and then the fun begins when she lets the bitumen, shellac and ink drip and splash. She loves this new process as it allows her the freedom to express herself and capture the right balance between freedom, chance, and control thus producing some startling results! The underlying motivation for Mary’s new paintings has come from the local rural environment, as cows and horses are a familiar sight at her studio in Dromore and at home in Annaclone.
