Armed Robbery Near Warrenpoint Condemned

Newry and Mourne Councillor Declan McAteer (SDLP) has condemned the perpetrators of an armed robbery of a householder on the Ryanstown Road near Warrenpoint yesterday evening (3 January). The robbers held up the victim at gunpoint before tying him up and stealing his car which was found abandoned and burned out a short distance away on the Upper Burren Road.dn_screen Mr McAteer said: “I wish to utterly condemn this attack, which was terrifying for all involved, including the neighbours who went to the man’s aid. “This was a vicious and reprehensible act, the use of weapons is particularly worrying and will have made for an intensely frightening experience for the man, who has had to receive hospital treatment. “I urge anyone with information to come forward to police urgently, or to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
