Dodds Says Landmark Judgement Is Good News For Farmers

DUP MEP Diane Dodds has welcomed a landmark judgement in the High Court in Belfast last Friday. The Judicial Review was taken by Finance Minister Simon Hamilton against a decision made by the DARD Minister relating to the transfer of funds between Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 of CAP.xa0dn_screen Commenting after The Lord Chief Justice quashed the original DARD decision Mrs Dodds said:xa0“This is a landmark judgement which vindicates the stance taken by my Party colleagues in the Executive. The DARD Minister was wrong to make the decision in the manner in which she did. Our view has now been proved in the courts and the flawed DARD decision quashed. CAP exists to support farmers. xa0The DUP has always stood up for our farmers and holds to the view that there should be a zero transfer of funds from Pillar 1 to Pillar 2. By keeping money in Pillar 1 it would make farm businesses more sustainable, productive and competitive. In so doing we would grow our economy and enhance rural communities.”
