Drop-In To Discuss Comber Town Centre Designs

RESIDENTS and traders in Comber can drop-in to discuss new design proposals for Comber.

Two drop-on sessions – one for local people and one for businesses – are being held on Wednesday 8xa0January, when the team behind the ‘public realm’ plans set to transform the town centre, will be on hand to talk about the designs for the £2.4M project.

The scheme, jointly funded by Ards Borough Council and the Department for Social Development, will see new kerbs, paving, street lighting and street furniture introduced across a defined area, stretching out from Comber Square to include Castle Street, Bridge Street Link, Bridge Street and Killinchy Street.xa0dn_screen

Councillor Philip Smith, Chairman of the Comber Town Steering Group, who is encouraging local people to take advantage of the opportunity to talk to the consultancy team, said:xa0“This scheme is a significant change for Comber and a substantial investment in the town’s regeneration, so anyone with an interest in how it will translate onto the ground, will welcome the chance to understand the thinking behind the plans and why certain materials, as well as to put across their own views on the proposals.”

The drop-in sessions take place on Wednesday 8 January from 4- 7pm for residents and fromxa07-9pmxa0for traders.

The plans are on show in Comber Leisure Centre and can also be accessed on-line atxa0www.ards-council.gov.uk/comberpublicrealm.

The closing date for comments is Friday 10xa0January.
