Alliance Welcomes Planning Permission Approval For Dundrum Play Park

ALLIANCE Newcastle area Councillor Patrick Clarke has warmly welcomed written confirmation regarding planning permission approval being granted by Planning Service for a proposed children’s playground with boundary fencing at lands at St. Donard’s Walk in Dundrum.dn_screen

Councillor Clarke said: “For some time I have been working and lobbying to secure a new modern children’s playground to be built within the village of Dundrum, to provide the local community with play facilities in as best a location as possible in Dundrum.

“The proposed location of Donard Walk green area for the relocated play area was identified through the public consultation carried out by Mentor Consultancy back in May 2012 as part of the village development plan for Dundrum village.”

“Council officers have already examined the green area at St. Donard’s Walk  and have decided that given the need to accommodate those with disabilities etc this was the most technically appropriate site for what will be a play facility for younger children.”

“Over the coming months I will be working closely with Down District Council Recreation Department, County Down Rural Community Network, Down Rural Area Partnership and the Housing Executive to progress the proposed play park to the next stage.

“Dundrum has been in need of a new children’s playground for decades so the granting of planning permission approval by Planning Service will allow Down District Council in the near future to provide these new community facilities,”  added Cllr Patrick Clarke.
