Sinn Féín Welcome Progress On Downpatrick Roads Scheme

SINN Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has said he welcomes that work is progressing to implement a new roads scheme for Downpatrick.

Mr.Hazzard recently called to meet with the Minister for Justice and Minister for Finance regarding the hold-up of the implementation of a one way system in the town centre.dn_screen

Mr.Hazzard said:xa0“Recent progress with the anticipated roads programme in Downpatrick had been held up. One of the hold-up’s related to Roads Service officials not being able to get access to Downpatrick PSNI Station, for them to carry out the necessary surveys on the site. I am pleased to have received notification from the Minister for Justice, confirming that negotiations are on-going and it is anticipated that this matter should be resolved quite soon.

“I am delighted with this news and hope it produces the long awaited outcomes for Downpatrick. I will be continuing with my engagement with the Minister for Finance to seek the required funding to have this scheme advanced.”
