Dicken's David Copperfield Play For Down Arts Centre

Down Arts Centre is delighted to have two very good reasons to come in out of the rain this weekend.

Onxa0Saturday 26 October at 8pm, Hotbuckle Productions will present their version of Dickens’ much-loved tale,xa0David Copperfieldxa0and on Sunday 27 October at 8pm,xa0Iarla Ó Lionáirdxa0andxa0Steve Cooneyxa0will fill the auditorium with some of the finest music Ireland has to offer.

And another date for your diary:xa0Newcastle Community Cinema will screen a true horror classic,xa0Nosferatu, at the Annesley Hall, Newcastle, on Thursday 31 October at 8pm writes Rachel Kennedy.

Born in Melbourne, Australia,xa0guitaristxa0Steve Cooneyxa0started his professional musical career at the age of 17, playing for a while in the US before returning home.

In 1981 he bought a one-way ticket to Ireland, home of his ancestors, where he busked for a few months, before joining Stockton’s Wing as bassist. Since then he has performed and recorded with Sharon Shannon, Dermot Byrne, Altan, Martin Hayes and others.
