A spokesman said: We believe that Aogan who has served his County and his Province so well in many and varied roles will bring with him to the position the values that reflect fully the ethos of our Association.

“We in Down would hope that Ulster will unite behind Aogan as he attempts to hold the high office of Uachtarán of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael.

“We send Aogan and his family our full support and good wishes for the months ahead in the quest to become the 38thxa0President of the GAA.”
