Following the incredible success of their production ofxa0Blood Brothersxa02011 and 2012, Showcase Productions NI are delighted to be on the road again with this ever-popular play.xa0 The production, originally developed as a school play byxa0Willy Russell, is a contemporaryxa0nature versus nurturexa0plot revolving aroundxa0fraternal twinsxa0who are separated at birth.

The twins’ different backgrounds take them to opposite ends of the social spectrum, one becoming a councillor while the other is unemployed and in prison. Despite this, they are destined to be reunited. The play follows the brothersโ€™ lives which become entwined as time progresses and the conflict caused by their upbringing, similarities and differences.

Finbar Furey To Perform In Downpatrick

Finbarxa0Fureyxa0will be entertaining his fans on Sunday evening (13 October) in the Down Arts Centre.

He has a unique pedigree: an All-Ireland uillean piper and whistle champion; co- inventor of the Overton low whistle; singer/songwriter; record producer; and front man for The Fureys. Finbar has been round the block many times with brother Eddie, recording for Transatlantic records in the 1960’s and after thirty years of phenomenal success with the family group, Finbar pursued his solo career as a songwriter and musician.

And as a solo artist Finbar’s reputation has increased with every performance. He has toured extensively in Britain, Australia and Europe, treating audiences to evenings of pure Irish magic, great music, good humour, and the charm and sparkling wit associated with one of Ireland’s great raconteurs.

Finbarโ€™s special guest,xa0Allan Taylor, is one of the last of the travelling troubadours to come through the social and artistic revolution of the 1960’s.xa0 Born in Brighton, Allan left home at 21 and became part of the vibrant folk music scene in London, playing all of the major folk clubs of the time. From there he went to Greenwich Village, New York, signed a record deal with United Artists and recorded in London, Nashville and Los Angeles, releasing albums world-wide.

For more than 45 years Allan Taylor has travelled the world performing at festivals, concert halls and clubs.xa0 Allanโ€™s songs have an integrity that tell you they come from something real, where characters come to life as people you know and places become as familiar as if you had been there. When this happens, you know itโ€™s an Allan Taylor concert.xa0 Together, Finbar Furey and Allan Taylor promise an unforgettable night of songs, stories, and incredible musicianship.
