This was the experience of the Mourne Mountain Marathon runners when they ran the first half of their race on Saturday 21stxa0September and camped out at Silent Valley Mountain Park.

The Mourne Mountain Marathon, which is in its 34thxa0year, is a two day endurance and navigation event held each year in the beautiful mountains of Mourne. This year around 140 teams of two set off from Tollymore on four courses ranging from 35km to 55 km.

To mark the occasion, NI Water opened itsxa0gates to the picturesque Silent Valley for runners to camp out overnight. Mark Pruzina, organiser of the event commented,xa0“This year we were very pleased to use Silent Valley as our overnight campsite. xa0It provided everyone with a fabulous location to rest and share their experiences from the day. The good access and facilities made life very easy for the organisers.

“We would like to thank NI Water for their support and accommodation of our event and we hope that we left the site as clean and as beautiful as we found it.”
