Daniel Carson reports from Ballymacarn Park

Shenanigans aplenty at Ballymacaran Park as Ballynahinch continued their unbeaten start to the season.xa0 The home side started strong and their early pressure was turned in to points by the reliable boot of Matthew Norton.xa0 David Chambers was the beneficiary of strong running by Kelvin Hamilton as the mobile front row burst through the defensive line like a walrus and linked up with the supporting Chambers to touch down under the posts.xa0 Norton converted.

Following a period of phase play Daniel Carson crossed the whitewash and doubled his achievement shortly after…collectively the yards travelled for both scores would reach around 5 metres.xa0 Norton converted both scores to take the County Down sides tally to 17 points.xa0 Unfortunately Michael Davidson was injured in the process and had to leave the field.

After a half time, Hinch came out of the blocks faster than their counterparts and a strong run from number 8 Nicky Jones resulted in a score from the base of a scrum.xa0xa0 Clogher Valley then rallied and scored two quick tries from their impressive driving maul as they used their extra man in the pack to their advantage. One of these where converted to take the score to 22-12.xa0 Norton added two more penalties from range as he continued to strike the ball with aplomb.

The highlight of the day was Sam Seymours try, impressive handling from Hamilton sent Gareth Murdock through on a 2 v 1 situation and to the shock of all the watching masses the back row forward actually passed the ball to his winger who touched down at the base of the posts. Norton added the conversion and a succession of penalties to leave the final score at 45-12.
