SPEAKING for the first time at the Labour Party Conference, the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association, Glyn Roberts, has called upon the Labour Party to produce its own Economic Blueprint for Northern Ireland.

Addressing the Labour NI Fringe meeting today (23 September) with Shadow Secretary of State Vernon Coaker MP, Mr Roberts said:xa0″As we approach the 2015 Westminster election, Labour needs to set out its own detailed Economic priorities for addressing the challenges facing Northern Ireland if they win power.

Also, in addressing the recent meeting with Richard Haass, special US ambassador, Glyn Roberts told Labour delegates: xa0″At our meeting with Dr Haass we outlined the need for real investment in addressing the economic problems faced by both sides of the community in interface areas.xa0Some of the worst unemployment, poverty and dereliction can be found in interface areas”
“Establishing micro Enterprise Zones to encourage new private sector investment at interfaces along side a wider package of measures to support jobs in these areas should be a priority.”
