McGrath Welcomes Belfast Research Centre

DOWN District SDLP Councillor and the party’s local spokesperson on Health, Councillor Colin McGrath, has welcomed the new £4million research centre which opens its doors this week in Belfast.

dn_screenCouncillor xa0McGrath said: “I want to welcome this new research centre which opens at Belfast City Hospital.

“This £4million centre will allow more people than ever before to take part in clinical trials in Northern Ireland and will also assist those with rare conditions who were forced to travel to England previously.

“The centre will focus on the main themes of cancer, nutrition, metabolism, vision research and respiratory research.

“All our lives have been touched by cancer whether directly or indirectly so any attempts to improve survival rates by way of improving our research infrastructure is very welcome and I hope that such research will assist those from Down and further afield.”
