Clarke Welcomes Improvements To Murlough Nature Reserve

ALLIANCE Newcastle area Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed recent improvements and repairs to Murlough Nature Reserve. Councillor Clarke had previously raised concerns with the estates department of the National Trust about the entrance to Murlough at Keel Point. He said: “I welcome that the National Trust have been making improvements to the approaches to Murlough Nature Reserve including the entrances at Keel Point, Janet’s Cottage and the car park entrance closer to Newcastle. “Regarding the wooded area the entrance to Keel Point, I have been advised that the Rangers have now completed repair works xa0to the fence adjacent to the footpath and continue to maintain the grass pathway which provides access through the wooded area. “The entrance at the car park, which has included resurfacing and re-marking of the driveway, landscape improvements and replanting is now complete. The National Trust have further advised me that an updated review and replacement of signage will shortly follow.” “Improvements to the building at Janet’s Cottage and landscape reinstatement in the area adjacent will commence early September,” xa0added Councillor Patrick Clarke.
