“The Big Gig xa0has a line up of seven acts: Damien Brennan, Barry McKeever, Martina Cunningham, Gerry Leathem, Matthew Campbell and the band Take It Easy.

โ€œThe Big Gig would not be happening without the generosity and support from the owner of the Mill, Noel Killen and his xa0staff, from Down District Council and of course our line up of great acts. They are the ones giving up their spare time to come and perform in this event and having such a talented line up of singer-songwriters, musicians and performers has really made this event a pleasure to organise.

“They are all local talented performers who are supporting their local charity, which is great to be apart off. The night itself will be great craic, with great company, inxa0 a great location. It all adds up to a super night out,” added Nicola.

Doors open at 6pm and the event ends at 1am. Tickets are currently being sold at a discounted rate of ยฃ7 in Lucy Annies Coffee House and Bakery at the Ballymote Centre, Downpatrick. (Or you can pay ยฃ8 in on the night at the door!)

The performers were all looking forward to the gig. Triona Carville is an up-and-coming vocalist and she said: “This is a great experience signing at The Mill xa0for this charity. I sing acoustic rock at gigs and grew into this form singing in the scor when I learned to perform on stage. This event will have a lot of support on the night and it is good to be able to give something to such a worthy cause. It’s an opportunity too to further my talent in a super venue and one day I hope to be fully professional.”

Country and Western singer Marina Cunningham from Castlewellan added that she too was looking forward to the evening of music an said: “I got involved as I am a Friend of Nicola’s on Facebook and she invited me along to sing and I’m delighted to help out. I’m singing every weekend now and and I am quite busy while is fantastic. I’m looking forward to the craic.”

And singer/sonwriter Damien Brennan from Newcastle also performing said: “I play Indie rock folk and at the moment I am putting tother a CD which will be released in a couple of months. I sing and play guitar, but I am putting together a new band at he moment and this should be very exciting once its all sorted out.
